Privacy Policy

Scope

The short version: your podcast library and listening activity are not sent to FoxRed.

ORANGE FOX LLC publishes Magic Caster under the FoxRed brand. In this policy, “FoxRed” means ORANGE FOX LLC.

This policy covers the Magic Caster apps for iPhone and Mac and the website at caster.foxred.org.

ORANGE FOX LLC is the controller for processing described in this policy. Apple, podcast publishers, media hosts, and other services may act as independent controllers for information they receive under their own notices. Contact support@foxred.org with a privacy question or request.

Data stored on your device

Podcast subscriptions, episode state, playlists, queue choices, settings, listening progress, downloads, imported media, and local diagnostic history are stored on your device. Private-feed credentials are stored in the system Keychain. In versions that offer a 14-day full-access trial, the chosen free podcast and a hashed Apple Account scope marker are stored locally. The marker prevents an offline podcast choice from being copied into a different Apple Account. A small Keychain checkpoint records the first-use date, latest observed date, and whether the trial has ended.

Magic Caster does not operate a developer database containing this information.

Private iCloud access records and optional library sync

In versions that offer a 14-day full-access trial, Magic Caster stores a first-use date and a hashed identity for your chosen free podcast in two small records in the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account when iCloud is available. These coordinate one trial and one active free podcast between iPhone and Mac, independently of the optional podcast-library sync switch. The free selection record does not contain a feed URL or credential. If iCloud is unavailable, the app uses local checkpoints and reconciles when it can reconnect.

Library sync is a separate choice. In trial-capable versions it is available during trial or paid access; in earlier paid versions it is available to app owners. If enabled, Magic Caster stores supported library metadata and listening progress in your private CloudKit database. Apple processes private CloudKit information under Apple’s privacy policy. FoxRed does not receive a copy of these private records.

Downloaded and imported media files remain device-local and are not uploaded by Magic Caster through CloudKit.

App Store purchases

Apple processes App Store purchases. In versions offering monthly, yearly, and lifetime options, Apple also handles Family Sharing and subscription status. Magic Caster reads Apple-signed purchase information on your device to unlock access and identify customers who bought the original paid iPhone app. FoxRed does not receive your full payment-card details or run a separate billing account.

Podcast directories, feeds, and media

When you search, refresh a feed, stream, or download, your device connects directly to Apple’s podcast directory or to the podcast publisher and media host. Those services receive ordinary network information such as your IP address and request details and apply their own privacy policies.

If you configure an authenticated feed, Magic Caster sends the credential only to the host you authorize so it can retrieve that feed or media.

Notifications and system services

Magic Caster may use Apple services for CloudKit, push notifications, Shortcuts, media controls, and App Store distribution. Apple processes the information needed to provide those system services under Apple’s privacy policy.

Diagnostics and support

Magic Caster does not send crash reports or diagnostic information automatically. If you create a diagnostic report, it is generated locally and previewed before export. The report omits podcast titles, feed URLs, file paths, usernames, and credentials.

If you choose to email support, FoxRed receives the email address, message, and attachments you send and uses them only to respond and resolve the request. FoxRed retains resulting support correspondence for no more than 12 months after the last meaningful interaction unless it is still needed to finish the request, comply with law, resolve a dispute, or preserve a legal claim.

Purposes and legal bases

Magic Caster processes device-local library and playback information to provide the app features you request. In trial-capable versions, private iCloud records coordinate trial eligibility and the one free podcast choice when iCloud is available, even if you do not enable library sync. Optional library sync, notifications, directory searches, feed requests, streaming, downloads, authenticated feeds, exports, and support occur only when you enable or request the relevant feature.

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, processing needed to provide purchased app functionality or answer a support request relies on performing a contract or taking steps you request. Security, reliable operation, abuse prevention, support, and product quality rely on legitimate interests. Required purchase, dispute, and compliance records rely on legal obligations or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims. Optional system permissions and exports remain under your control and may be withdrawn or stopped in system or app settings.

The Magic Caster website

The website has no account system, contact form, advertising, or analytics. Its OPML maker runs entirely in your browser and does not upload the feed URLs you enter.

Vercel hosts the site and may process short-lived request and security logs, such as IP address, user agent, requested path, and timestamp, to deliver and protect it. FoxRed does not use those logs to profile visitors or for advertising.

Magic Caster does not set nonessential cookies or use local storage for tracking. The OPML maker holds feed URLs in the current page only until you clear or leave it. No cookie-consent banner is shown because the site does not currently use nonessential cookies or similar technologies. This decision will be reassessed before adding analytics, advertising, replay, accounts, or another technology that requires consent.

Sharing, selling, and tracking

FoxRed does not sell personal information, share it for behavioral advertising, or track activity across other companies’ apps and websites. Information is disclosed only when you direct the app to contact a service, when a provider must process it to deliver a feature described above, or when required by law.

Deleting your data

You can remove downloads, subscriptions, playlists, queue entries, and other library data in Magic Caster. In trial-capable versions, you can change the one free podcast at any time. You can disable or reset optional library sync from Library Preferences. That switch does not reset trial eligibility or the shared free podcast choice; their private records and local checkpoints are separate from library sync.

Deleting the app removes its ordinary device-local data subject to Apple’s backup behavior. Keychain items and private iCloud records may remain under Apple’s system and account controls. FoxRed cannot view or directly delete private records in your Apple Account. Contact support if you need help locating the relevant Apple controls.

Retention

Device-local library, playback, download, imported-media, settings, credential, and diagnostic data remains until you remove it through Magic Caster or system controls, delete the app, or the operating system removes it. In trial-capable versions, eligibility is retained in the local Keychain and, when available, private CloudKit to prevent a completed trial from restarting. The chosen free podcast identity remains in local preferences and private CloudKit while needed to enforce one shared slot. Its hashed Apple Account scope marker remains only in local preferences. Apple Account and device controls govern removal of these records.

FoxRed does not keep a developer copy of your private CloudKit records, podcast library, listening progress, credentials, OPML entries, or locally generated diagnostic reports. Vercel retains website request and security information according to its hosting configuration and published retention criteria. Support correspondence follows the period described above.

International transfers

ORANGE FOX LLC is based in the United States. Apple, Vercel, podcast publishers, media hosts, and support-email providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose laws differ from those where you live.

Where EU, EEA, UK, or Swiss transfer rules apply to a transfer controlled by FoxRed, FoxRed relies on an available lawful transfer mechanism. Depending on the provider and transfer, that may include an adequacy decision, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK or Swiss extensions, the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK Addendum. Contact FoxRed for information about the safeguard relevant to a particular transfer.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a portable copy of personal information controlled by FoxRed; object to processing based on legitimate interests; withdraw consent where consent is the basis; or appeal a decision about a privacy request. FoxRed may need to verify your identity and may retain information when law requires it or when needed for legal claims.

Email support@foxred.org to exercise a right. You may also complain to the data-protection authority where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred. EEA authorities are listed by the European Data Protection Board, and the UK authority is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Your choices and required information

You can use Magic Caster without providing FoxRed with a name, email address, or user account. In trial-capable versions, the first-use trial can use your Apple Account’s private iCloud database when available; otherwise it uses local state. Network information is necessarily sent to Apple, podcast directories, publishers, or media hosts when you request their content. A private-feed credential is required only for a feed that requires authentication. An email address and message are required only if you choose to contact support.

FoxRed does not use solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when Magic Caster’s features, providers, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be identified by updating the effective date and, when appropriate, giving additional notice.
